Thankful Thursday

 Mild temperatures make it easy to extend summer a little longer. Warm temperatures coupled with shorter evenings gave an added gift of seeing a beautiful sunset on a quiet beach.

The gates closed at 6:20 giving us time to visit our favorite ice cream shop. After a 6 mile walk on the beach, we thought a treat was in order.
Minty fresh!

Beach weather continues today, although a little breezy, we are not to be deterred. First, celebrations are in order.

Birthday breakfast 

Yay! It’s Fiona’s birthday and that’s a great reason to celebrate and be thankful. So grateful for my beautiful daughter, beach buddy extraordinaire, fabulous and fun, loyal and kind, master mask maker, book lover, baker, artist, fleur -a-holic, chauffeur and all good things! Our family is so lucky!!

    Happy birthday Fiona. A beach walk is the best thing to do on the big day. Especially with some ice cream after walking. Well especially for mo getting to share time with her daughter. I would do ice cream though too. Those beach sunsets are gorgeous. These days are getting so much shorter now, aren't they? Happy almost Friday. Hugs-Erika

    I am SO far behind, but I'll still send belated birthday wishes to Fiona. She is truly a beauty, Like mother, like daughter.

    Lovely sunset photos and the ice cream looks great, too. Hope Fiona had a great celebratory birthday, even though it was such a bad year.

  Art in Bloom Art in Bloom is being celebrated as a rite of Spring fundraising for art museums and libraries . In museums, floral designers create a piece to coordinate art on display. Local libraries and Chamber of Commerce combine their efforts with local art guilds and garden clubs to host a fun evening event. Libraries, art, flowers…what’s not to love? I decided this was an event I wanted to be involved in, both on the art and floral design aspect. First up: the display case, I asked Fiona for help on this. Here’s what we put together for the event. This is my first year participating, but it provided a great opportunity to put my art to good use. Happy Spring. Bloom where you’re planted.

T stands for Traditions

Nothing says traditions like a holiday...and in our house Birthdays have always been treated like holidays! We hold firmly to the belief that if there is a day you are ever going to celebrate, it's the day you were born. Luckily for Fi, her birthday is October 8, which coincides with Columbus day this year, extending the Birthday to Birthday weekend. We lined up all kinds of special treats, starting with a Half Marathon on Saturday, if you can call that a treat..followed up with  some other birthday specials, breakfast out at our favorite diner,  presents, bookstore coffee and browse around,  made to order breakfasts and dinners,  chocolate cake (yum!) and a wind down with one of our favorite hobbies on Monday... painting Halloween Vignette Years ago, I painted unfinished wood and sold it at craft fairs.
