Goodness comes in many forms, in unexpected ways..and sometimes, it's from a good deal on Groupon. An added discount to a great deal moved Fuller Gardens from my bucket list to the done and dusted list. Accomplishing things is always fun, but never more so, than when it's a fun thing shared on a picture perfect day.

Statue in the rose garden

There was a fantastic selection of roses, and they all looked extremely healthy. I am sure tender care helps, as well as the ocean breeze. Just across the road, lies the Atlantic Ocean.
North Hampton
So many beautiful roses, in a variety of colors made it difficult to pick a favorite. I finally chose this as my favorrite, both for the color and the name.
I definitely want to find this rose for my garden, heart of gold, such an inspired name. Although small, the layout was delightful, as we ambled from one garden room to another, including a Japanese garden with a Koi pond.
There was also an incredible array of dahlias.
There was also a greenhouse.
Soon at was time to end our visit, and step out of the gates.
We took a stroll across the road, to one of the mansion like homes that lined the coast.

and the garage, where the chauffeur lived with his daughter, perhaps? |
On the way home, we couldn't resist a stop for salt taffy at a local candy shop.

like a kid in a candy store.

And then we headed home to enjoy a cuppa and some salt water taffy.
Now it's time to say goodbye to July and...
Nan, your link shows your blog is not found. I found it by clicking on your name in comments and going from there.
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous rose garden at Fuller Gardens. So pretty. In fact, the entire experience looks great. I really liked the Japanese garden and koi pond. It looks so calming.
I've heard that Groupon has some great bargains, but I've never looked at what was available in my area.
LOVED seeing you with your Sanborn's salt water taffy. Kid in a candy store is right! What a big grin.
That's a beautiful mug. Love the little bird on it. And I love your beautiful August calligraphy card. It's gorgeous.
Thanks for taking us to Fuller Gardens, then to the candy store, and later home to share your salt water taffy and drink with us for T this Tuesday. You might want to check your link and see what is wrong with it so others can enjoy the experience of Fuller Gardens, too.
Thanks Elizabeth, computer challenged😉
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely gardens! I have some very pretty dahlias in my garden this summer, and we're enjoying bouquets in both the kitchen and living room. I've never heard of the "done and dusted" list---love it! The salt water taffy reminds me of my great aunt with whom we lived for 12 years. It was a favorite of hers. I'd love to live as close to the ocean as you do. Lake Ontario is just not a suitable substitute.
ReplyDeleteDahlias are great! Such an enormous pop of color, one of my favorites. Bet the bouquets are beautiful. It's great to be able to bring the outside in! I feel so lucky to live so close to the ocean, one of life's many blessings.
DeleteWhere is Fuller's Garden? It looks really lovely and it looks like you had a super day. And ending the day with some saltwater taffy only makes it even better. Happy T day Nan. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteNorth Hampton, New Hampshire. There is often a groupon. Well worth a visit in July or August, fabulous roses! Love Saltwater taffy!
DeleteWhat a beautiful place! At first I thought the rose was a Peace rose, but I like Heart of Gold. Perfect. Would be hard to pick a candy from the that candy shop. Looks like too many choices. Salt water taffy screams Summer. Now I want some taffy.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for the birthday card. Such a fun surprise. And not a bill! :-D
DeleteYou're welcome. It reminded me of the peace rose too, which is one of my favorites. So many good flavors of taffy...lucky we got to mix them...ashamed to admit, almost gone, and I am the culprit! ;)
DeleteHi Nan!!

ReplyDeleteThank you. The roses did smell amazing. You really got the scent after coming out of the greenhouse. The gigantic lilly was incredible too! Wishing you a happy day Valerie.
DeleteYou always have such fun trips and it looks like you had a great time exploring the pretty gardens and mansion 😀. The rose you chose is so beautiful and Golden Heart is such a wonderful name too - I adore it! Fi looks so excited with her Salt Water Taffy, I bet it tasted so good - yum 😁. Happy T Day! J 😊
ReplyDeleteWe do our best, haha...you do some great trips yourself! Always nice to see something different, and the salt water taffy was a special treat. Wishing you a happy day!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flower photos, Nan. The view to the ocean is spectacular. I haven't had salt water taffy for decades. We used to go to the Jersey shore before we moved the Mexico. Love the photo of Fi.
ReplyDeleteBelated happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
It's good to come back and see this at last! What a lovely place to visit! Chrisx
