Spring with a flourish

Fiona took a vacation day so we could take a drive out to Tower Hill and saunter around the gardens. They are doing a lot of construction and expansion, so some areas were cordoned off, but there was still much to see. It’s further west and the tulips were in full bloom. Perfect timing!





I love color, and it was in abundance. Inside another favorite, a display of botanical art graced the corridor.
Fiona treated me to lunch and we were able to eat outside in the garden. My other fun treat of the week was to celebrate Mother’s Day at Chez Philippe. Onz and Deets invited us for brunch to celebrate Mother’s Day. Everything wad delicious and the conversation was flowing.



Lovely brunch of frittata, blueberry muffins,
Hash browns, fruit salad, coffee and orange juice

Oh my happy heart!

    This is a treat since all my tulips have bloomed and are now gone for the year. They are lovely where you are, dear Nan.

    How wonderful that you got treated to such a beautiful Mother's Day celebration. I love those blue patterned plates. Thanks for sharing the tulips, your lovely Mother's Day lunch, and your juice and coffee with us for T this Tuesday, dear Nan.

  Art in Bloom Art in Bloom is being celebrated as a rite of Spring fundraising for art museums and libraries . In museums, floral designers create a piece to coordinate art on display. Local libraries and Chamber of Commerce combine their efforts with local art guilds and garden clubs to host a fun evening event. Libraries, art, flowers…what’s not to love? I decided this was an event I wanted to be involved in, both on the art and floral design aspect. First up: the display case, I asked Fiona for help on this. Here’s what we put together for the event. This is my first year participating, but it provided a great opportunity to put my art to good use. Happy Spring. Bloom where you’re planted.

T stands for time together...in Ireland.  Heading to Ireland for a mini break provides a welcome respite from hustle and bustle. It's a chance to enjoy life at a slower pace, and get outside and enjoy nature. There is no place that we find as peaceful, and walking the country roads never gets old. Fortunately the weather cooperated, and the days are long...daylight until almost 10 o'clock at night, which leaves plenty of time for walking everyday. Our range was between 6 and 13 miles per day, making the most of our time outside. Not many people on our route, but not short of company. The dairy farm and creamery is just down the road, so you know our milk is fresh!  Sometimes, after a long walk, a cuppa and a biscuit aren't enough.
