The total solar eclipse...didn't see it, wasn't on the right path...partial solar, would have liked to see it, no glasses left. Tried the strategy of looking down on the ground to see the reflection through the trees, no luck there...took a 2 second glance, but seemed too bright...a dare devil I am not! but I will be happy with my solar eclipse stamp mail... solar eclipse mail The kraft envelope is from Troy as part of the PTE exchange.  Hard to tell from my photo, but the teal dots are metalllic ink, super luminous. The white and pink envelope is from my penpal Janet. She told me if you put your finger on the black dot and remove it, you will see the moon.  Yes! it's true.  A little bit of moon magic there. And for a little more magic, a snail mail letter, including a new recipe from a snail mail blogging friend. love her card! It's always lovely to see Karen's creativity, and even nicer to receive a card from her in the mail. May the moon shin...

It's a mail day! Surprise from a pen pen..absolutely delighted! A letter and a few small presents! Wow! I was so happy with this. I love a handwritten note. In a digital world, there is something nostalgic and heartwarming about receiving a handwritten note in the mail. A small, but special pleasure such as this would have been more than enough to brighten my day.  But wait, because there was more, a colorful flower bookmark and a little hand made tea bag holder. My pen pal made the tea bag holder with some Susan Branch fabric.  Maybe my new motto will be, have teabag, will travel! And of course, I won't forget a book. I just finished reading the highly recommended, 84 Charing Cross Road, about a 20 year relationship forged by mail between a bookseller in London and the author, Helen Hanff of New York. Whew! The heat is on, with a fury....all of a sudden, it's gotten hot, hot, hot. In a week, it has gone from rainy and cold to hot and humid. Vacation and last week's weather have put the planting a little behind schedule but I am on it.  Hopefully, those tender roots will survive this heat and thrive. ...with a little help from the angels. Have a good start on the front garden...and I have hung my summer basket on the door. Summer color! Roses are in bloom... and the portulaca (or moss roses) have been planted. But there is still alot to do.  All this gardening has left little time for mail creation, but some of my favorite magazines came. I will be browsing through them tonight while enjoying iced tea in the back garden. Time to sit sit back and relax. And of course, temptation came through the mail slot... oh no, these must go... What an awesome Mother's Fortnight Surprise!....All the way from London, totally unexpected.... Look what came for Mother's Day! My worker bees...who surprised us with a visit...and lots of cooking! Absolutely the best surprise I ever received! And to top it all off cards and flowers... I am her favorite cat lover  Two cards better than one...from Fi Balloon and Roses from O It's nice when your mother's day card has your name on it! And of course, more flowers, yay! Flowers from Onz and D It was such a fun few weeks. I hated to send them on their way yesterday. I did send some home made chocolate chip cookies, Onz's request, right in time for Chocolate Chip Cookie Day! Hopefully, they will enjoy them for a while.
