T stands for time together...in Ireland. Heading to Ireland for a mini break provides a welcome respite from hustle and bustle. It's a chance to enjoy life at a slower pace, and get outside and enjoy nature. There is no place that we find as peaceful, and walking the country roads never gets old. Fortunately the weather cooperated, and the days are long...daylight until almost 10 o'clock at night, which leaves plenty of time for walking everyday. Our range was between 6 and 13 miles per day, making the most of our time outside.
|
Not many people on our route, but not short of company. |
The dairy farm and creamery is just down the road, so you know our milk is fresh! Sometimes, after a long walk, a cuppa and a biscuit aren't enough. One of my favorite places to eat is Brown's in Derry.
|
Wine anyone? Yes, please! |
|
Seafood Chowder |
|
David's choice |
|
And dessert.... Brownie, Cream, Raspberry Sorbet, and Raspberries |
What's not to love? While we were eating, the Made in Derry food tour came in. I had never heard of it before, but definitely looks like something we would love... next time? why ever not!
We have our own food tour, with our regular favorite spots. So happy to share my birthday with Fi in Donegal town. Dom's is the best, try the Fish, so flaky with a light batter. Scrumptious!

Another spot we frequent is The Mellon. just outside Omagh. So many good things to choose from, it's hard to pick. We are already thinking about what we will have on our next visit. The Mellon is situated very close to the Ulster American Folk Park, well worth a stop. There's no better way to top it off than with a Coffee with Bailey's.

Me and ...my favorite on this side of the table drinking a Baileys Coffee with me sharing the good times and dessert! |
Well, I have left the sunshine of Ireland, and back to the rainy weather of Boston, go figure... No choice but ...
|
and a good book...

I hope the sun shines bright where ever you are, and it not, I hope you have the company of family, friends or a good book to cheer you. Hugs. Xo

ReplyDeleteCows and sheep and Bailey's, oh my! Tea and cake, too. Loved the various places you took us, and the wonderful birthday you shared with us for T this Tuesday. Happy belated birthday, too.
Thank you Elizabeth. It is nice to share my trip...as my family jokes about me, more is more...and there is plenty more. Thank you for the birthday wishes, and for all your inspiration and comments. Very appreciated.
DeleteIt looks like you had a lovely trip, good weather and wonderful countryside to walk in. The food of course looked yummy.

DeleteLoved seeing your Ireland trip. Top of my bucket list! The landscapes are gorgeous and your food and drinks-yes! Glad you had good weather too. Here in NE PA it has been rainy and grey the last few days too. Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful place to visit, and you will meet so many friendly people. It has been rainy and grey here, but finally the sun is starting to peep through. I hope to get to PA again. We were there a few years ago to see my daughter play Rugby, but that was about as much as I got to see. It was exciting, but not relaxing at all! Wishing you a happy day.
Deleteyour holiday photos look gorgeous and I am glad the sun shone for you..its probably raining there now and windy as it is here in Liverpool.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed them. It's been raining since we got back to MA, but the sun is finally started to peek through. Hope it is sunny where you are too!
DeleteLovely photos, Nan. I'm glad you has such a good time. It must have been hard to leave that beautiful sunny place.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen
It is always hard to leave. Luckily we had a late flight, so we got a last walk in that morning. The sun is out here today, so I will get some gardening in. That is always a winner. Wishing you a happy day!
DeleteIt looks like you had a wonderful time in Ireland with your family! I so enjoyed visiting with you and the seafood chowder looks so delicious - yum! Thanks for sharing your magical trip and wishing you a Happy T Day! J 😊

DeleteI enjoyed the photos of your trip and only wish I could eat at all those wonderful places :) We are having sunshine today after days of overcast weather and rain, so I'll tank you for your well-wishes. They worked! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy T Tuesday
Happy they worked. May more good weather and good things come your way. Have a lovely day!
DeleteThe countryside looks very peaceful, but my favorite would be the beach. Love your neighbors, though. (-; Might have to try making the brownie dessert. Never thought to pair raspberry sherbert with brownies. I'm glad you're home and love the sentiment on your card. There's always room for tea and cake. Indeed.
ReplyDeleteRaspberry and chocolate make a fantastic combination. I had a great time, but it's always nice to return home here to, and art skype with you. Hopefully we will have a get together soon.
DeleteWhat a beautiful area, and what delicious looking food. I haven't known you long so I want to ask if you have a house there or just visit? I have been Ireland once and we walked a lot when we went there too. I loved that a lot about my visit. Hope you have some more to show us so I can live vicariously from the comfort of my couch. :) Happy T Day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteHi Erika, Yes we have a house there, so it makes it an easy vacation choice. I love to be out walking the country roads. You will have to let me know what parts you have travelled through. I will be sure to put up more pictures. I have taken alot with my camera...oops, I mean phone, but it's actually more of a camera ;)
DeleteJust imagine to be able to just take a trip to Ireland... a little green with envy here..lol So glad you had a wonderful visit... gorgeous pictures... and wow lots of walking..
