T stands for Tyrone

Tyrone won the All Ireland football final on Saturday in front of 41,150 Mayo and Tyrone supporters.  This is half capacity of Croke Park due to Covid restrictions. GAA football is not a professional league and Tyrone counts among it’s players teachers, sales representatives, plasterers, accountants and carpenters. They aren’t paid for playing, but their commitment, passion and excellence is second to no professional team. Beyond the players themselves is a back room team committed to their success. They hail from all parts of the county and have deep community ties to their local clubs. Playing for the county is an honor for the player and the local club. The work rate, fitness and athleticism are an inspiration for all the fans.


 
I loved this article about the heartwarming moment fan Patrick Trainor was lifted from the stands to raise the Sam Maguire.There is a short clip in the article that shows Patrick’s joy in being included in this fantastic moment.

    It was nice to learn a bit about the team. It's too bad they aren't paid, especially since professionals make so very much money. I also enjoyed reading the article, and loved that you created such magic on tissue paper. That trophy would make one huge drink cup, wouldn't it? Thanks for sharing Tyrone and the trophy with us for T this Tuesday dear Nan.

    That is such a fun and positive post! How wonderful that Tyrone won! The clip wouldn't play on my computer, but looking at this special fan, he looks like he could be Down Syndrome. It would have been the most fantastic moment in his life.

Nothing says traditions like a holiday...and in our house Birthdays have always been treated like holidays! We hold firmly to the belief that if there is a day you are ever going to celebrate, it's the day you were born. Luckily for Fi, her birthday is October 8, which coincides with Columbus day this year, extending the Birthday to Birthday weekend. and nothing transforms like a butterfly...the metamorphosis is symbolic to so many cultures and religions. The butterfly offers an explanation of the life cycle, and in Christian faiths a symbol of resurrection. In Asian culture, butterflies symbolize long life and love. Native Americans see the butterfly as a symbol of color, change and joy. For them, wishes whispered to the butterfly rise to the heavens. To many people throughout the world, the butterfly symbolizes hope and change. Is it any wonder that I am always on the lookout for them? On our day trip to Ogunquit, I saw some beautiful gardens, lots of color, the ocean, and butterflies... spotted some butterflies... These butterflies were fluttering around in the beautiful gardens outside the Ogunquit Museum of American art. The sculpture garden, flowers and view were amazing. Art and Nature combined.. From here we walked the Marginal Way at Ogunquit, another of my favorite spots... Spectacula...

Every click of the television remote or blast from the radio brings more aggressive news of hateful words and actions.  The stress of the situation is exacerbated by the sad fact that I have no impact over the current environment.  All of the lessons of history seem to be lost.   I can only hope that at some point peace, respect and common sense prevail.  Amid all of this discord and hostility, Nish and I went in search of some tranquility.
