Friday Flowers, it's November, right?

Warm temperatures have kept the crisp Autumn weather at bay, and flowers that are usually a thing of the past linger on...
impatients...not in a rush to go anywhere...
Normally by now, I'd have cleaned out the garden beds, planted some fall mums and pansies, and put in some bulbs for next year. With so much color still out there to enjoy, fall flowers seem unnecessary. I guess that means, more money for art supplies! Oh well, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! In the meantime, I think I will stop and smell the roses.

I keep trying to guess how many rosebuds will bloom before the weather turns cold.  I am just amazed that I am getting to enjoy the beauty of summer and the colors of autumn at the same time.

    I have an azalea bush that is STILL in bloom ! Fall colors are slow arriving in these parts and I think we'll have a limited display. T'is fun to have both seasons represented!

    Your flowers look great. Mine went downhill with the wind and rain last weekend. The cold is coming soon they say. It's time, but then, I'd love the flowers to stay blooming year round. Hugs-Erika

    We have azaleas still blooming and our hydrangeas in the front are still beautiful although they have changed dramatically over the last weeks. Some of our potted flowers are still doing well, but today we have heavy rain and cool temps so I'm not sure how long they'll last. I'd be happy with flowers year round! Your roses are gorgeous, and I need to think about where I might plant some next year.

  Art in Bloom Art in Bloom is being celebrated as a rite of Spring fundraising for art museums and libraries . In museums, floral designers create a piece to coordinate art on display. Local libraries and Chamber of Commerce combine their efforts with local art guilds and garden clubs to host a fun evening event. Libraries, art, flowers…what’s not to love? I decided this was an event I wanted to be involved in, both on the art and floral design aspect. First up: the display case, I asked Fiona for help on this. Here’s what we put together for the event. This is my first year participating, but it provided a great opportunity to put my art to good use. Happy Spring. Bloom where you’re planted.

T stands for Traditions

Nothing says traditions like a holiday...and in our house Birthdays have always been treated like holidays! We hold firmly to the belief that if there is a day you are ever going to celebrate, it's the day you were born. Luckily for Fi, her birthday is October 8, which coincides with Columbus day this year, extending the Birthday to Birthday weekend. We lined up all kinds of special treats, starting with a Half Marathon on Saturday, if you can call that a treat..followed up with  some other birthday specials, breakfast out at our favorite diner,  presents, bookstore coffee and browse around,  made to order breakfasts and dinners,  chocolate cake (yum!) and a wind down with one of our favorite hobbies on Monday... painting Halloween Vignette Years ago, I painted unfinished wood and sold it at craft fairs.
