 With vacation days piling up and no trips on the horizon, we enjoyed a mini day out last week.

A Reuben sandwich…good for a treat

Usually, I wouldn’t have a beer at lunch but we were celebrating…a trip to Costco after lunch.

Between Red’s and Costco, I suggested a stop at Endicott Park for a walk to work off some of our lunch. 


The grounds were beautiful and the dahlias in the community gardens were still going strong.

It was great to have this little sojourn before this rainy week arrived.
This flower bed showcased perfect autumn colors.  Being out for a walk is something I am so appreciative of, especially after being off my feet for months last winter.  I can hear the wind gusting and the rain lashing down, so at the moment I am grateful to enjoy the warmth and comforts of home.

    Endicott Park looks beautiful. The mums are amazing Nan. Can I ask where Endicot park is? Hope it was happy T day and you don't get too much rain and wind.

      It’s in Danvers. Late spring or early summer is ideal. You definitely want to check to make sure garden isn’t closed for events.

    My idea of a big day out is Sam's, similar to Costco. However, your trip to Endicott Park was far more enjoyable and the beauty of the walk you took there was superb. I love how you showed the beauty of the autumnal colors in the garden, too. I can see why having a beer before these tasks made it even more enjoyable. Thanks for taking us to Endicott Park and thanks for sharing your beer with us for T this week, Nan. Sorry I'm late visiting, dear.

  Art in Bloom Art in Bloom is being celebrated as a rite of Spring fundraising for art museums and libraries . In museums, floral designers create a piece to coordinate art on display. Local libraries and Chamber of Commerce combine their efforts with local art guilds and garden clubs to host a fun evening event. Libraries, art, flowers…what’s not to love? I decided this was an event I wanted to be involved in, both on the art and floral design aspect. First up: the display case, I asked Fiona for help on this. Here’s what we put together for the event. This is my first year participating, but it provided a great opportunity to put my art to good use. Happy Spring. Bloom where you’re planted.

T stands for time together...in Ireland.  Heading to Ireland for a mini break provides a welcome respite from hustle and bustle. It's a chance to enjoy life at a slower pace, and get outside and enjoy nature. There is no place that we find as peaceful, and walking the country roads never gets old. Fortunately the weather cooperated, and the days are long...daylight until almost 10 o'clock at night, which leaves plenty of time for walking everyday. Our range was between 6 and 13 miles per day, making the most of our time outside. Not many people on our route, but not short of company. The dairy farm and creamery is just down the road, so you know our milk is fresh!  Sometimes, after a long walk, a cuppa and a biscuit aren't enough.
